It's a gift card...
For $50 at Whole Foods (or, as David says, three whole items).
Whole Foods donated these for the top three finishers at the Louisiana Marathon, but everyone forgot about them. So this was a happy surprise in the mail!
Here's the best part: I paid $50 to register for this race, so getting the gift card means I broke even.
And for someone as cheap as me, that's just plain heaven.
What's the best prize/award/race swag you;ve ever gotten?
Besides this gift card, getting wicking socks at Baton Rouge Beach Marathon was pretty awesome!

ReplyDeleteThe best for me was definitely the swag and prizes for a trail race with Forge Racing Series (based in Baton Rouge). I did a 10K this summer in North La. with them and the swag for starters included a technical t-shirt, a water bottle, a plastic coffee mug, a Saloman drawstring bag, and some other stuff. Then I placed 2nd female overall and the prizes included a Whole Foods gift card, a Thriv gift card (Running apparel store based out of Metairie - it's now called Tasc and their running clothes are awesome), and some other stuff! It was a small race but high quality, I recommend doing one if you're interested in trail running at all. I think they have one in BR coming up soon.

ReplyDeleteThat is Awesome!!!!! My best win ever was a box of Gu. Unfortuntly it was tangerine flavor. WHich is rather painful to ingest. But I used it, cause I'm also cheap.

ReplyDeleteI've never won anything from a race, my favorite thing is usually race tshirts that I can wear on runs since I don't like buying workout gear =)
Ha!! Love it! Once in high school I got a Runner's World Gym bag that I still have. (15+ years old now) In a recent race I won a $50 gift card to the nicest restaurant in our small southern town so that was a nice evening out!

ReplyDeleteAwesome! I love Whole Foods, but I never shop there due to the $$! I have never gotten such a cool gift. I did place once but all I got was a plaque. I mean, what am I going to do with that?

ReplyDeleteMy least favorite swag: junk like hand lotion samples that I'll never use.
My favorite swag: The Gulf Shores Half Marathon gave beer-openers as race finisher medals. That was pretty clever. (Useful, too!) I think I like that one better than any AG medals I've gotten.
