Snow day in NOLA

Schools here took Wednesday and Thursday off as snow days. Grocery stores were packed. Bridges closed. Officials panicked.
I sat on my behind at work and did nothing. It was just me and my Shih Tzu.
I bought this mug on clearance at Walgreens for $1.99. I think it's hilarious. No, I don't have a Shih Tzu.

We got a little rain, and somewhere north of us a snowflake fell. The funniest part of SNOLA 2014 was that people prepped for it like they do a hurricane - stocking up on jugs of water, batteries, and canned foods. The forecast for Sunday is 70F. You don't need to stock up, people.
Rush hour on Claiborne Ave...empty!
The best part of SNOLA? Totally empty streets. I got to work in 8 minutes. It usually takes me 25.

  1. As someone who lives considerably North of you, I've kinda been chuckling at the Snowmageddon the South is going through. But in fairness, if you're not prepared for it, it would really bog things down. People here stock up every time there's a chance of flurries too. Like they're gonna be stuck in solitary for a month or something. So silly.

The most awesome thing about the mug is that you don't have a dog. Hilarious. The mug kinda made me smile too. Is that a wink, or did your contact fall out?

  2. Glad you survived the blizzard! :) We got 12 inches yesterday and it doesn't make any news and life just goes on. Too funny. AND, speaking of funny - that mug cracks me up, especially since you don't have a shih Tzu!!

  3. That's funny. A little bit of a mass over-reaction. I'm glad to hear you survived that blizzard.

  4. I used to live in New Hampshire. Southern snow days are funny. Of course as Jim says it's all relative; if a snowflake fell in Singapore we'd be running all over the place like headless chickens. And remember how the Chicago marathon was once called off due to heat? Over here we call that Tuesday...

  5. I'm in between Hattiesburg and Mississippi. The accumulation our way was not much but most of it was ice. Most folks who ventured out were sliding around like bumper cars. My mom lives in Birmingham, and well, you've seen those pictures...yikes! I'm coming your way this weekend to run (probably mostly walk) the Rock and Roll 1/2 marathon. I'm so not prepared, but I'm no quitter! :p That's what 3 days of cabin fever will do to a gal!
