What I'll be wearing....

Love.

Adore.
Varsity Sports made a freaking awesome singlet for its Boston runners. I love everything about it. I always wear race T-shirts, so this amazing dry-max softness is flipping me out.
Q for you: I never buy shirts to exercise in because I get so many race T-shirts. Do you buy running tops. and if so - how much do you spend? I was looking around at some other tops and oh my gosh some of them were insanely expensive!

  1. I am short and small, so race shirts rarely fit me. I end up buying running shirts on clearance at my local running store or at Target. I refuse to spend more than about $15 for a shirt that is going to smell bad and never go out in public. In the summer, I just run in a bra. Much cheaper.

  2. I buy them if they are on sale (and tend to wear my running shirts in technical fabric more often than the cotton ones), but I also often run in $5 cotton tank tops from Old Navy. I've picked up a couple of Brooks shirts once they get down around $20, but I paid over $30 for a reflective neon yellow and black one that I'd been pining for as a post marathon reward last year. Word to the wise, Brooks shirts tend to run short- that one is fine but I think I'm going to get rid of another one I got b/c the torso is too short.

  3. I would roast if I ran in t-shirts, I get really hot when I run. I wear sports tanks, I try to pick them up on clearance at Target or TJ MAxx. In the winter, I were one under a pullover - I have just a couple sports type fabric ones, since I don't run outside daily in the winter, I am a wimp who sticks to the treadmill! In the rare in between temps, I do wear a regular t-shirt vs a wicking shirt.

  4. I did buy 3 or 4 shirts because I haven't run in many races yet, and running naked doesn't appeal. Now, however, I can't imagine spending much on a shirt when I get plenty for free from races.

  5. Pretty sweet singlet! I have quite a few and mostly get them from runningwarehouse.com on sale or the outlets. I hate buying things at full price.

  6. I like that top! I have bought one running shirt when I first started running and it was on sale and it was still about 25 dollars, down from 50 or something equally ridiculous. I also bought a pair of Nike Tempos, which are my favorite shorts, and they were 40 dollars! It's crazy! But I have had them for 6 years and they are still going strong. So I would say the per mile cost is pretty cost effective!

  7. I LOVE the top! What a great color and it fits you super well. Love it! I am sponsored by Brooks so I have tons of Brooks stuff and love good running clothes. Before Brooks I got a lot of stuff on sale at runningwarehouse.com Having just a few really good pieces made a big difference for me. :)

  8. The top...rocks.
    You are cut woman!
I have a feeling .... Ok I KNOW...you are going to rock it in Boston.

    1. Honestly I'm a sports bra girl, too, but got to represent my running club! ;-)

  9. That's a great top! You look awesome in it too.

Yeah, I can be a bit of a snob with my running clothes. I'm getting ready to plunk down $$ for a red Athleta tank that I want for my next marathon. Thing is, I find that the pricier stuff tends to last longer, so I don't mind investing a little.

    Good luck at Boston!!!!

    1. It's fun to buy a race "reward" - I have a gift card to Sports Authority and I need to use it soon!

  10. I am a race shirt gal. It's all I wear for running. I love Athleta as well, but mostly for their skirts.

THat top is super cute on you. Have a good race

  11. You look gorgeous, Grace! I love orange too and it's a good color for you.

I have bought a few Champion dry-fit Ts at target and have been happy with them. Ross is another store I scour for stuff. Sometimes I'll splurge and buy something off of clearance at Sports Authority.

  12. Great top!! I try to keep running tops under $20 and I only buy a few a year. I think I have mostly Nike tops right now but I am not partial. If it's a good deal and doesn't make me look huge it's a winner!

  13. I wish I could just run in a bra. No one wants to see Buddha though. The tank is cute! I love the bright color and winged shoe. I love the winged shoe symbol for running and bought a metal wing from pier 1 (like $6 on clearance) to hang up in the house although I will admit its still sitting on the floor...

  14. I do buy running shirts because I'm soooo overly picky about how I feel/look in my running digs. But, I like to wait until the end of a season and then go swoop in on the big deals. Crazy expensive winter apparel gets cheaper and cheaper the hotter it gets and that works the same for summer wear as it gets chilly. ;)

  15. Great tank!
And I'm with you - I don't buy tops because I have plenty from races...

  16. I have a few running shirts, but only use them in winter since I live in the tropics. Those I scour the sales racks for and rarely spend over $20. I have an awesome long sleeved YMX top that I LOVE that I won from them, thankfully because I would never spend $100 on a running shirt!
