More art!

The next pics for my office are these cheese-ball musicians done on glossy stock in acrylics. They are clearly "tourist art" and, well, I don't love them. But I need some inoffensive, generic art for my office and this will do. It sort of continues the New Orleans theme I have going on with my skyline picture.

The swirly background, you ask? Well, I don't actually know what's up with the swirly background. I think I got sick of painting. I can only paint for about an hour at a time and then paint starts drying under my nails and I freak out. I think I quit early on these.

Dress it up

My new pharmacy has a small counseling room so I can talk to patients in private. It was looking a little bare, so I painted a picture for the wall. This is actually a large painting and I swear in real life it isn't crooked...darn Blackberry pictures. My baseboards are black so the frame matches.
I have two similar frames that hold 11 x 14" art; I just need to think of something to put in them. They'll go on the blank wall next to the wall above. Any ideas? I think I need to stick to the New Orleans theme, but since they're smaller it can't be too detailed. I was thinking two musicians, or maybe one of an oyster and one of a shrimp. Any other ideas?

What do you do when you have a day off, your husband has to work, and it's pouring rain?
You stand in line for five hours at Best Buy to purchase some this-will-be-outdated-by-2011 electronic for $10 off! Nah. I don't. Black Friday is for people who like close proximity to other people and that's not for me.
Instead, this is what I did. Still in my pj's, hair a mess, face not washed, coffee getting cold.

Now I'm going to go pick dried paint out of my eyelashes and reposition the centerpiece to cover the suspicious light blue smear on the dining room table.
