On the second day of our stay, David and I were running to the park when I stepped on a loose piece of side walk and went flying! I landed on my right side, skinning right elbow, outside of right knee, and of course - landing squarely on my post-op hip. I also braced with my left hand, which is skinned in a lovely scalloped pattern. My godchild told me it looked like pepperoni. I'm kind of annoyed that my hip got the brunt of the fall, but it certainly figures. I'm too clumsy to run.
Jim at 50 after 40 ALSO fell on his hurt hip this weekend, so at least I'm in good company.

Have you been to Alon's in Atlanta? My sister also lives within running distance of the park and goes often.
ReplyDeleteI had a bagel and (more) coffee there on Friday!
DeleteMy guess is that your friend and she live in the same neighborhood. Also, my mother is a pharmacist.
DeleteOw! Sidewalk falls are the worst. Well, maybe not as bad as "falling off a building" falls, but certainly normally worse than falling on the trail. Hope those scabs are the worst of it and your hip wasn't hurt.
ReplyDeleteYikes! I'm prone to falls as well... I hope you didn't do any damage to your hip. :/
ReplyDeleteOh No!!! You have the worst luck. Is your hip ok? Were you able to finish the run?
ReplyDeleteYour fall reminds me of mine. I also tripped over a raised edge of sidewalk. oww.
DeleteI've only just finished commenting on Jim's fall. What's happening over there? Is it a sudden epidemic of ataxia?
ReplyDeleteEek! I've done that & it sucks, but there were no post-op joints involved. Hope it's not bothering you!
ReplyDeleteYeah like Char said - not sure what's going on - one minute I'm fit as a fiddle, but the next, my left hip is killing me! Hope your fall didn't do any damage. If we're going to mimic each other, let's do it wit something positive like setting new PR's ... or staying healthy for a while or something.
